Julie Brown Julie Brown is a freelance writer based in Reno, NV. Her work has been published in Outside, REI’s Co-op Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, The Drake Magazine, and more. She grew up skiing in Lake Tahoe, CA, received a master’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley with a focus on long-form writing, and served as the first female managing editor of Powder. She is a member of a secret North Lake Tahoe all-female cookbook club. Her story, “Authentic Expressions with Annelise Loevlie,” appears on page 100. Kitt Doucette Kitt Doucette is a writer, ski guide and all-around businessman based in Cardiff, CA, but longs for his winters spent in Sun Valley, ID. Doucette’s writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, Men’s Journal and BigLife, among others. He has an identical twin brother named Cody, but don’t hold that against him. His profile on Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner appears on page 034. Kade Krichko Kade Krichko, originally from Connecticut, is a freelance writer based in Spain. His work has appeared in the New York Times, Seattle Met, Outside, Vice Sports, Powder, The Boston Globe, and Nowhere Mag. He is an avid soccer fan, once following a story lead to Columbia to cover the soccer scene during the 2014 World Cup. His feature “Chasing Elusive Turns in the Spanish Pyrenees” appears on page 046. Derek Taylor Derek Taylor is a writer and editor based in Huntsville, UT. He was one of the longest-serving editors in Powder history and helped the editor of this magazine jump-start his career. Father to boys Hugo and Pancake, and husband to wife, Jenny, DT, as he’s known, can be found skiing at Snowbasin, UT, in the winters and prepping his hard cider business, Huntsville Cider House, for mass consumption. He is very active in the Real Salt Lake Twitter scene. His feature on legendary photographer Ace Kvale appears on page 076. Peter Kray Peter Kray is a writer and author based out of Santa Fe, NM. He attended St. Lawrence University where it’s presumed he drank his fair share of hot toddies. He may very well be the best skier at Ski Santa Fe. His novel, The God of Skiing, is required reading for ski bums around the world. Kray is also the cofounder of GearInstitute.com. His piece on Snowbird’s Cliff Lodge appears on page 030.
