Michael Cordey is a skier, photographer and a social and cultural anthropologist from Lausanne, Switzerland. He started freestyle skiing in 1998, but eventually got behind the lens to shoot pro snowboarder Romain De Marchi attempting the big air world record at Champéry, Switzerland in 2008. Michael used to hide at the top of the mountain with his Nikon D1 and 300 mm zoom lens, but has moved closer to his subjects and passions over the years, producing work with athletes like Laurent De Martin and Fred Couderc in addition to his anthropological work with the University of Lausanne.

Guy Fattal is a freelance photographer based in Whistler, BC. Originally from the hills around Jerusalem, Israel, Guy found his will to explore vast mountains expanded after completing three years of mandatory service as a commander in the Israeli military. He’s had a camera in his hand from a young age, a tool that continues to take him to the most exceptional places on Earth. In addition to winning the 2017 Whistler Blackcomb Deep Winter Photo Challenge, Guy’s work has appeared in this magazine, as well as FREESKIER, Ski Canada and other snow publications. His dedication to creating and telling stories through photography keeps him chasing the next great snow storm and searching for the best hummus dish in the world.

Christoph is a professional backcountry ski photographer based in Salzburg, Austria. Chasing snowstorms and hunting for the best light has turned into a lifetime obsession—whether that be splitboarding in Alaska, surfing in Ireland or mountaineering back home in the Alps. With his photography, he wants to inspire people to get out of their comfort zone, to try something new and while never losing his inner child. He has published work with Red Bull Media House, Prime Skiing Magazine, Powder, and this magazine, among others. You can find more of his work at johannphotography.com.

Originally from the coast of Maine, Caitlin Kelly studied creative writing and environmental studies at St. Lawrence University in Upstate New York. Her reporting has taken her across the west, but she always comes back home to the Adirondack Mountains. She currently resides in Lake Placid, NY, and splits her time freelance writing and ski patrolling at Whiteface Mountain. In the summer, she works for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a caretaker at a remote cabin in the High Peaks Wilderness, conducting search and rescue efforts, educating the public, and clearing trails. Her writing has appeared in Powder, Adirondack Life Magazine, and SKI, among other online publications. She doesn’t mind tight glades or long approaches, but she loves doughnuts and picking wildflower bouquets.

Lisa Richardson revels in having conversations with interesting people for a living. She’s a creative-at-large for Arc’teryx, a columnist for Pique Newsmagazine, and has contributed to a host of ski and mountain culture magazines over the past decades. She’s previously written about hippy squatters and ancient ski cultures for The Ski Journal. Richardson gardens with enthusiasm, is a relentless pusher of hopepunk and is endlessly curious about whether we’ll be able to transform human consciousness in time to change the world. She lives as a guest in the territory of the Lil’wat Nation, on unceded land that she is learning to listen to, near the town of Pemberton, BC.
