José da Silva
José da Silva is a freelance writer living in Boston. Currently finishing his undergrad degree in journalism at Northeastern University, his writing has been featured in Boston, DigBoston, Fenway News, These Football Times and AMC Outdoors. While he’s always planning his next path into the ocean, he satiates his desire to be outdoors during New England winters in the region’s various mountains. In his writing, he is especially interested in the ways humans connect with the natural world, and the impact we have on the environment.
Lily Krass
Lily Krass is a freelance storyteller based in Jackson, WY. Her work has been featured in SKI, Powder, Freeskier, Ascent Backcountry Snow Journal, and with Teton Gravity Research. In addition to an all-consuming addiction to powder skiing, Lily takes snacking seriously, and when she’s not writing or sliding on snow, she’s likely deep into a baking project in her tiny kitchen. She is the co-author of Beyond Skid: A Cookbook for Ski Bums, a collection of dirtbag-friendly recipes inspired by life in a mountain town.
Sam Morse
Sam Morse is a wordsmith, snowboarder, traveler and yogi. He favors knee-deep turns, diving in the tropics and feasting on chili-saturated food. His humorous writing has been published with Teton Gravity Research, Outside and REI’s Uncommon Path. Inspired by precipitation and driven by artistic expression, he loves collaborating with others to manifest great storytelling. Currently he’s raising his golden pupper, Blue, and self-publishing his first-ever picture book, The Ski Town Fairytale.
Takahiro Nakanishi
Takahiro Nakanishi is a freelance photographer based in Japan. In his 20s he lived the migratory life as a snowboarder in New Zealand, France and other snowy climes around the world. After changing gears and picking up telemark skiing, he started to take photography seriously and nowadays spends most winters in Japan. He has published with Downdays and Bravo Ski, among others. During winter, he lives in his van and chases the confluence of good snow reports and interesting terrain.
Twig Spensley
Adam “Twig” Spensley is the content director of Newschoolers.com and a published writer for both ski and mainstream news outlets such as The Guardian. Born in London, he now lives in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, pursuing his ski addiction year-round while working remotely. A devoted park rat despite his advancing age, he loves to work with and promote freeski athletes, crews and brands who endeavor to keep the spirit of newschool skiing alive. Outside of the ski world, he spends his time climbing, camping, supporting the environmental movement and trying to live more sustainably.
