“A stormy day in Jackson Hole, WY, just before the infamous Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition in February 2020. I was leading Arianna Tricomi and Sam Kuch up Cody Peak to check out some fun backcountry lines. Conditions weren’t lining up and Arianna wasn’t too thrilled about the wind-scoured snow in one of the Jackson classics called Once is Enough. She yelled above the strong winds, ‘I can ski plenty of extreme lines in Italia; I just want to enjoy some playful terrain!’ We moved to another aspect and found a beautiful slope with contrasting light on the horizon. Arianna dropped in and disappeared. In the whiteout she let out a little yodel, ‘Que stupenda!’” Photo: Greg Von Doersten
