I took a trip to Baldface Lodge, BC, in 2019 with my friend Chris Christenson, a surf-board shaper and snowboarder. I was the only skier in the whole lodge besides the staff photographer (who took this picture) and pretty comfortable going last on most runs. In the middle of the second day, Eric Crane, who is just the nicest guy and also the boss over at Electric, says, “Hey Geoff, you’ve been riding in tracks all day. Why don’t you go first?” Dustin the photographer gave me this look and said he would set up halfway down the slope. It was a blind drop, so I just went and ripped what was probably 1,000 feet of untracked low-angle powder. I heard him clicking as I went by, but this shot was based on the fall line and his experience. It looks like a tourist bureau photo. Thanks Eric and Chris. Photo: Dustin Lalik There are basically no photos of me skiing. I grew up before the iPhone and have photos from projects but not much else. I’m very glad to have at least a couple of these visual references to attach to the mercurial feeling of flying downhill. Photo: Dustin Lalik
