“Hilaree and Brian O’Neill making their way in Kamchatka, land of volcanoes, brown bear, world-class trout, furs, vodka—and skiing. Our goal was to get out in a giant Mil Mi-8 helicopter, a Russian military behemoth on wheels. Waiting around for the right weather led to skiing some crummy snow, a day of zero-viz cat skiing, and a tiny ski area in Petropavlovsk that seemed like it was in the middle of the industrial part of town.
