REWIND SKI IT LIKE IT’S 1999 Photo and Caption HANK DE VRÉ The cover shot of ski movie 1999 , taken on a dawn patrol near Donner Summit, CA. Our group was making its way to the infamous I-80 drop zone. The day was perfect with sun-shine and cold, untracked fresh snow. Scott Gaffney and I were set up to shoot on the knoll. Robb Gaffney, JT Holmes and Shane McCon-key were at the ready. Robb decided to go first, and in his cool, calm voice shouted, “On it! Dropping!” He sent a front flip, hanging in the air perfectly calm, stomping the landing and leaving us all blown away. Robb will be greatly missed by the many people he touched. 036 The Ski Journal
