“A few years back, a storm was forecasted to strike the stone towers of southern Utah, and Reggie Crist and Will Wissman invited me to join them on a Hail Mary trip to ski there. Snow can melt in minutes under the intense Utah sun, but there was enough cloud cover to make a proper snow assessment. Feeling confident, we dropped into what could have been a serious terrain trap.
