LEFT • Shane McConkey came to Bella Coola, BC in 2003 with reverse-camber Volant Spatulas, waterskis mounted with alpine bindings, and a BASE jump rig. He then skied an icy line to prove the Spatulas worked on firm snow, rail-slid spines on the waterskis, and hit a “closeout” line, one that ended in a cliff he could BASE jump.
